Biography

After beginning trumpet studies under professors Vicente Prats and José Salvador in Valencia, Juanjo left for the Royal Higher Conservatory of Music of Madrid (Spain) to complete his studies under José María Ortí.

He was a member of the Spanish National Youth Orchestra and has collaborated with various orchestras throughout Spain: Spanish National Orchestra, Spanish Radio and Television Symphony, Madrid Symphony, Euskadi Symphony, Gran Canaria Philharmonic, Cadaqués Orchestra.

From the year 1989 on, Juanjo, along with Carlos Benetó, has been a member of the prestigious brass quintet Spanish Brass Luur Metalls, with whom he has recorded, toured and given master classes throughout the world: Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts (USA), Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London (United Kingdom), Paris National Higher Conservatory of Music and Dance (France), Yale University (USA), Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, University of Georgia (USA), Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester (United Kingdom), ITG Conference in Gothenburg (Sweden), Atlanta University (USA), Showa Academy of Performing Arts (Japan), Lieksa Brass Week (Finland)...

Career
  • 2012-2013: Professor of Trumpet at Berklee College of Music - Valencia Campus (Spain)
  • 1996: 1st Prize at Narbonne International Brass Quintet Competition (France)
  • 1991-1998: Principal Trumpet at Granada City Orchestra (Spain)
