Glory and Ordeal — Oskar Böhme's Life and Death in Russia
We know the composer and trumpeter, Oskar Böhme, through his celebrated, romanticized styled Concerto in E-minor. However, we know very little about the last part of his life in Russia. Until now. On April 5, 2019, the correspondent, Christian Neef, from the German magazine Spiegel in Russia, has presented his book ‘Der Trompeter von Sankt Petersburg’ [The Saint Petersburg Trumpeter], where he solves all these mysteries and includes the last photograph of Böhme (illustrating this news), dated from 1938.
