At the age of 7 he was introduced to the world of music by his grandfather, Inácio Pepino, saxophonist and director of the band where eventually Fábio would begin his solo career. From the age of 12 to 16 years old he studied with some trumpet teachers until he received a scholarship to study with Michael Tunnell at the University of Louisville, Kentucky (USA), where he also introduced to many great American trumpet players. It was there that he won his first national and international competitions.
After this he moved to Europe, where he studied with Reinhold Friedrich in Germany and Eric Aubier in France.
He has played with orchestras and ensembles from Brazil (Brazilian Symphony, São Paulo State Symphony, Minas Gerais State Symphony, Rio de Janeiro Municipal Theatre Orchestra), USA (The Brass Company Quintet), Venezuela (Simón Bolívar Symphony of Táchira State), Ecuador (Quito Metropolitan Symphonic Band), Alemania (Darmstadt State Theatre Orchestra) and Spain (Spanish Radio and Television Symphony, Las Palmas Philharmonic, Granada City Orchestra, Royal Brass Quintet), and has been invited to teach masterclasses in Brazil, Spain, Venezuela, Mexico and USA.
