Joseph Haydn

1732 - 1809

He was one of the most prominent and important composers of the Classical period, brother of Michael Haydn.

He spent the most part of his career in the court of the aristocratic Esterházy family in Hungary. It is known that he was Ludwig van Beethoven's teacher and possibly Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's, though we can't be sure of this.

His Concerto per il clarino is a milestone; he was the first composer to write for the recently created keyed trumpet.
